New Updated COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Dose

  • The CDC recommends the updated COVID-19 bivalent booster from Pfizer for people ages 12 years and older and from Moderna for people ages 18 years and older.
  • The bivalent booster dose is administered at least 2 months after completion of the primary series. For people who previously received a monovalent booster dose(s), the bivalent booster dose is administered at least 2 months after the last monovalent booster dose.
  • The updated COVID-19 boosters are designed to provide broader protection against newer variants. They also help to restore protection that may have decreased since previous vaccination.
  • Use CDC’s COVID-19 booster tool to learn if and when you can get boosters to stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines.
