Shift: Full-Time Permanent
Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Starting Annual Salary: $71,936 Annually
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Handle a portfolio of files in various stages of litigation from Notice of Claim to trial and appeal under the direct supervision of the First Assistant County Attorney.
- Supervise the processing of all property damage claims against the County.
- Supervise the processing of all In Forma Pauperis applications.
PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
The Erie County Department of Law (a/k/a the Erie County Attorney’s Office) is seeking an entry level attorney (0-2 years) to join our small litigation team. The County Attorney’s Office represents the County of Erie, its officials and employees, in a wide range of federal and state court litigation, as well as in administrative proceedings. The successful applicant will have the ability to work independently and manage their own portfolio. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent research and writing skills. Some litigation experience is preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an approved school of law with a J.D. Degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Admission to the Bar in the State of New York.
