                                                      Full Time – AFSCME

POSITIONS:                                  51001263 (TEMPORARY)

SALARY:    $44,866 -- $53,984 (AFSCME Job Group 7)

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Thorough knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance procedures and equipment; ability to perform a variety of skilled in one or more of the building trades; ability to assume a leadership role in the planning and execution of Park Projects; ability to get along well with others; ability to follow oral and written instructions; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience in grounds, buildings or park maintenance; or:

B.) Five (5) years of experience in grounds, buildings or park maintenance; or:

C.) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)..

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Possession of a valid NYS Class B Commerical Driver’s License without airbrake restriction at time of appointment; and
  2. Must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A without airbrake restriction within six (6) months of appointment and through subsequent period of employment; and
  3. Must obtain an apprentice permit as a pesticide applicator within one (1) year of appointment and through subsequent period of employment.
  4. Must be able to lift and carry unassisted packages, bags, etc. weighing up to 50lbs.

Note: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full time experience requirements.

* Special Note: As of February 7, 2022, Erie County Parks is no longer able to provide in-house training to CDL candidates due to a change in federal regulations established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.  Until further notice, all CDL candidates must obtain training from an outside training provider listed on the Training Provider Registry at their own expense.
