Erie County Department of Probation, SNUG Buffalo, and Stop the Violence Coalition Inc. collaborated to host an anti-violence event geared towards youth and young adults with justice involvement.

The Erie County Department of Health teaches healthcare providers about Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs). They also work with the New York State American Academy of Pediatrics to make it easier for doctors to ask the courts for an ERPO.

Erie County supplemented funding for the Summer Youth Employment Program for special programming for youth at risk of gun violence.

Erie County Department of Probation expanded the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) to increase the number of visits to a probationer with a history of gun violence, supporting transition to life after incarceration.

Springville-Griffith Institute (SGI) Central School District passed a resolution in support of BeSmart and gun safety initiatives. SGI also produced a video that emphasizes BE SMART themes for safe gun storage

The University at Buffalo School of Social Work and the University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions developed an environmental scan to describe current gun violence prevention activities.

University at Buffalo (UB) Jacobs School of Medicine hosted the 2025 Remembrance Conference to engage teams of medical students and faculty in conversations, curriculum and programming that employ a public health approach to reduce firearm injuries and fatalities. UB’s Department of Pediatric Primary Care promotes gun safety education to the community.

The Erie County Gun Violence Prevention Task Force promotes gun safety and education, supplying gun locks and accompanying gun safety information during interactions with the public. 

Members of the Erie County Gun Violence Prevention Task Force hosted events to advocate for stronger gun safety measures, honor gun violence victims and survivors, and raise awareness about the impacts of gun violence. These members include Urban Christian Ministries’ Gun Violence Prevention Rally, P.E.A.C.E. Inc.’s Gun Violence Prevention Conference, and Buffalo S.N.U.G.’s SNUG Day.
