CPS CORE VALUES: SERVICE PROFESSIONALISM INTEGRITY
Mission Statement: Erie County Central Police Services (CPS) will provide forensic, technical and support services on a countywide basis to first responders. CPS will ensure first responders have access to the best technical tools and work to standardize processes and interoperability among public safety agencies in Erie County.
The Erie County Department of Central Police Services (CPS) was established in 1973 to provide support services to law enforcement and criminal justice agencies on a countywide basis. These services primarily include Enhanced 911, forensic laboratory, computerized law enforcement systems, Statewide Automated Biometric Identification System (SABIS) and the STOP DWI program.
These services are provided for the purposes of improved crime prevention, effective investigation, prompt arrest of offenders, expert court testimony, state-of-the-art technology, the protection of police officers and the entire community. By providing these services on a countywide basis, CPS strives to provide the best possible services to promote public safety in an efficient manner.
Through a partnership between CPS and Suny/Erie, law enforcement training is provided through the Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy on the North Campus of Suny/Erie. The academy provides both basic and advanced in-service law enforcement training on a variety of topics to every local police department in Erie County.
