Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response (LEASER)

January 29 – 31, 2025 7:45AM – 3:45PM

Location: Pending

Due to increased interest, we are taking registration from agencies in our network for the next LEASR course.  This training program is a National Center for Biomedical Research and Training Academy of Counter-Terrorist course and was developed almost 14 years ago with constant updates.  It was developed by NCBRT along with Louisiana State University and the office of Homeland Security and is taught throughout the nation.

All ranks from patrol officer on up are encouraged to sign up, but I especially encourage first line patrol supervisors, such as sergeants or lieutenants, to sign up.  Given what we witnessed in shooting massacres here and throughout the country, we see how crucial it is for supervisors to be as prepared as possible to direct resources to such critical incidents.

Equipment needed for the training:

Non action training gun (red gun, blue gun, orange gun, etc.)

*Full action training gun (commonly referred to as "sim gun")

1 50 round box of non-marking cartridges (Force on Force or Simuntion)

1 50 round box of blank cartridges also Force on Force or Simunition (for sound indication and effects)

eye protection

*Protective gear (helmet, groin neck)

Bring your own water and a packed lunch

*The academy has full action training guns and some protective gear, but any additional equipment your officer brings will help insure we have enough.

The class is limited to 20 spots, so please fill out the registration form and send it in before the deadline of January 19, 2025. If we have overwhelming numbers, we will schedule another session as soon as possible.

You can return the attached registration form to the academy – Fax 270-5390 or E-Mail registration (padins@ecc.edu).  Please make sure the registrant clearly puts down his/her email address so we can pre-register their name with LSU/DHS.
