As people with Down syndrome are living longer than ever before, research shows they face a 90% lifetime risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, making dementia awareness, early detection, and research especially important for this community. | Science Cafe: Panel Discussion on Parenting with Disabilities |

A Science Café is a discussion about science in a social setting. Community members talk with researchers about real-world issues and the ways that research can impact health. Science Cafés are open to the public. The discussion will have two perspectives: parents with disabilities and their lived experience, and parents with children with disabilities and their lived experience. The panel includes Max Donatelli, Parent and Advocate for People with Disabilities, David Herring, Parent of a Child with Disabilities, Nicole LaMonte-DeGolier, Parent and Family Advocate from Parent Network, Rich Marino, Panel Facilitator, Parent and Advocate for People Inc. Erin Reisdorf, Education and Community Engagement Coordinator for Parent Network Jennifer Serniuk, PhD, Department of Family Medicine, University at Buffalo.
