Featured Producer: Badding Bros Farm Market and Garden Center

The Town of Amherst, once a major farming community, has long since become one of the more urbanized and populated municipalities in Erie County. The Town has worked hard to preserve the remaining farmland through its purchase of development rights program and is currently preparing a Farmland Protection and Agricultural Development Plan. One of the Town’s remaining farms, Badding Bros Farm Market and Garden Center, continues the Town’s agricultural legacy and is this week’s Featured Producer.

Badding Bros Farm Market and Garden Center (the Market), located at 10820 Transit Road in East Amherst, has been family-owned and operated for the past thirty years. What began as a roadside stand selling extras from Arlene Badding’s vegetable garden has now turned into a successful agribusiness with over 12 employees and 20 acres of farmed land. The Market is now run by Arlene’s son, Mike, his wife, Louise, and their five children. Badding Bros has also taken a page from Grandma Badding's legacy of educational farm tours for school kids and have expanded to offer make-and-take planting kits. These include mixed herb planters, flower containers, craft pumpkin decor, and Christmas wreath and centerpiece arrangements.

The fresh and sustainable produce, annuals, and perennials sold at the Market are grown on-site or nearby on the family’s farmland. In the fall, the Market transforms for the harvest season with offerings of pumpkins, mums, and apple cider. The Market transforms again in the winter, when fresh-cut Christmas trees, handmade wreaths, and poinsettias are available.

Badding Bros hopes to be an agribusiness in the WNY community for years to come!

The Market is currently open M-FR 9AM-7PM, SA 9AM-6PM, and SU 9AM-5PM. Customers must wear a mask to enter and should be respectful of employee and customer space.
