Re-centering ethics

The Erie County Board of Ethics together with Erie County Government will be celebrating Global Ethics Day 2026. The theme for the event this year is Re-centering Ethics.
Erie County will mark the celebration of Re-centering ethics with;
- The establishment of the Board of Ethics Trust and Integrity Garden for employees and the public to reflect upon the crucial role of ethics in society, and the need to continually cultivate ethics in government,
- A ceremony Reaffirming Erie County Government’s commitment to honor the Erie County Code of ethics
- An interactive presentation for employees of Erie County about importance of taking ethics off the sidelines and placing it at the center and core of what we do.
The County will also be partnering once again with the Buffalo and Erie County Central Public Library in celebrating the event. Erie County employees and the public are invited to visit the Ring of Knowledge in Downtown Central Library at 2:45p.m. for a brief presentation about the Erie County Code of Ethics by Barbara Piazza, Chief Ethics Officer of Erie County, followed by a showing of the movie, My Sister’s Keeper. Books and publications will also be available for the public’s review.

In recognition of Global Ethics Day, Erie County employees are invited to attend Ethics Re-Envisioned, a fun and enriching interactive presentation.
Join us at the Downtown Central Library in the Ring of Knowledge to learn about the Erie County Code of Ethics—and why you need to know about it. Barb Piazza, Chief Ethics Officer of the Erie County Board of Ethics, will be presenting timely and important information on ethics in government. Books and publications will also be available.
