New York Meeting of Sustainability Staff
A Network for Municipal Sustainability Professionals
NY MOSS is a new professional network for municipal sustainability practitioners across New York State. We are
a peer organized network that connects individuals for learning and collaboration on local sustainability challenges. From villages to counties, our members are working together to build a hub for connection, support and growth.
What is NY MOSS?
- Completely peer organized and free
- Focused on learning and collaboration
- Monthly meetings and annual in person summit with guest speakers, peer case studies, tools, lessons learned
- Together we are building an online resource hub for municipal sustainability professionals
📌 Note: NY MOSS membership is open to municipal staff working on sustainability-related efforts in New York State.

Monthly Meetings
NY MOSS hosts monthly virtual meetings to connect members, share updates, and hear from experts.
🗓 When: Usually the third Thursday of each month at 11:00 AM
(Subject to change based on speaker availability or scheduling needs)
👥 What to expect:
- Member updates from around the state
- Guest speakers, including:
- Government agency experts
- Leaders from environmental organizations
- Fellow NY MOSS members sharing case studies, tools, and lessons learned
- Time for discussion, collaboration, and idea exchange
2025 1st Annual NY MOSS Summit hosted by Tompkins County
- On September 10-12 twenty-five members from around the state met in Ithaca for our first Annual Summit.
- The event was organized and funded by Tompkins County (thank you!).
- The agenda covered clean energy and sustainability topics and included breakout sessions to discuss the future of the organization.
- We can't wait to get together again. Let us know if you would like to help plan the 2026 Summit.

- Steering Committee. The NY MOSS Steering Committee is an informal group that has mostly worked on scheduling meetings and arranging speakers. Just let us know if you'd like to be involved.
