In 2024, the Municipal Police Training Council (MPTC) began requiring police academies to utilize an updated firearms curriculum for the delivery of the Basic Course for Police Officers (BCPO). As part of this effort, ECLETA is offering this 5-day course designed to prepare instructors to deliver this new material. For BCPO courses that began on or after September 1, 2024, successful completion of this workshop is required to teach BCPO section 4-M - Initial Pistol Course.

- Operational Weapons Safety
- Working in and Around Vehicles
- Incorporating NLTA into Firearms Training
- Data-driven Training Design
- Injured Shooter
- Concepts and Principles of Movement
- Positional Work
- Low Light Techniques
- Teaching the Fundamentals
- Qualification Standards
This course consists of 5-days on the range. Attendees will be expected to participate in all drills, including those involving movement and positional work. Successful completion will require attendees to pass a timed proficiency qualification. Attendees must participate while on agency time for the duration of the course.
Due to the hands-on nature of this course, spaces are extremely limited, and you must receive confirmation to attend. This is not a Pistol Instructor Course for new instructors; all attendees must be current MPTC Firearms Instructors to attend.
