The Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy is proud to announce that we will be hosting the Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education Instructors from Louisiana State University to present the Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response course in Erie County.
Active shooter attacks and other acts of targeted violence have become an ever-present concern for law enforcement agencies. While awareness of these threats has increased, awareness alone does not ensure preparedness or an effective response. This nationally recognized course provides officers with the knowledge, skills, and tactics necessary to rapidly respond to and mitigate an active shooter incident.
This course is designed to give the first responder the necessary tools to rapidly deploy and neutralize a violent offender during an active shooter incident, as well as save innocent lives. LASER achieves this through classroom presentations, hands-on performance-based field training, and scenario-based practical exercises.
This training is a National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education course developed in partnership with Louisiana State University and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The curriculum has been continuously updated to reflect current threats, tactics, and lessons learned from real-world incidents. It is taught nationwide and is one of only three active shooter training programs approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
Attendance is encouraged for law enforcement personnel of all ranks, from patrol officers through executive leadership. This course is especially valuable for agency training unit personnel responsible for active shooter or active threat response instruction, firearms instructors, field training officers, and first-line patrol supervisors, including sergeants and lieutenants.
This is an outstanding opportunity to receive nationally recognized instruction from subject matter experts and enhance your agency’s ability to respond effectively to one of the most critical incidents faced by today’s law enforcement professionals.
All equipment necessary for this training is provided by LSU, please bring a packed lunch and drinks (training facility does have a beverage vending machine, no snack vending machine)

Pre-Test: As soon as you complete registration, you will see a link "Begin Class Pre-Test". Click on this link to access the
class pre-test. A completed pre-test is required in order to later take the post-test and receive class credit.
In Class: The online registration site is mobile friendly and can be used by any phone, tablet, or computer with internet
access. At the end of training, a post-test and class evaluation will be conducted. Bring a device to class that can
access the online registration site, so you may complete your post-test and evaluation online. Your post-test
will be graded immediately, and you will be able to review the answers. As soon as the post-test is passed and
the class evaluation is completed, your Class Information page will update to include a link for your certificate.
The certificate may be downloaded as a PDF to your device, or sent as a PDF to your email.
