TITLE OF POSITION: ACCOUNT CLERK TYPIST (PROVISIONAL*)
LOCATION: OFFICE OF FINANCIAL RECORDS
JOB GROUP: 4 ($40,880 Annual Starting Salary)
*Please note that this position is a competitive civil service title and will require a civil service examination in the future. After the exam, selection for permanent appointment(s) will be made from reachable candidate(s) on the eligible list according to the NYS Civil Service Rule of Three.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A.) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York state registered two (2) year college or university with an Associate's degree in Accounting supplemented by a course in keyboarding or computer business applications; or:
B.) Completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited or New York state registered two (2) or four (4) year college or university which included sixteen (16) semester credit hours in Accounting, supplemented by a course in keyboarding or computer business applications; or:
C) Graduation from high school supplemented by a course in keyboarding, or computer business applications, and one (1) year of experience maintaining financial records and account or:
D) Five (5) years of office experience, one (1) year of which involved keyboarding or computer business applications and the maintenance of financial records and accounts; or:
E) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (D).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Applicants for designated positions in the Department of Social Services that may have access to federal tax information to perform his/her job duties shall be subject to a suitability background check investigation, including FBI fingerprinting, local law enforcement check, and verification check of citizenship/residency. A criminal record does not necessarily disqualify applicants from employment, rather an individualized determination will be made. The cost of the background check will be assumed by the Department of Social Services.
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
This notice will be posted for the period FEBRUARY 23, 2024 through and including MARCH 3, 2024.
Selected candidates must sit for the examination which will be held at a later date. Once a list is established, the candidates must be reachable by score to maintain the position.
