TITLE OF POSITION:                    ACCOUNTING ANALYST 

LOCATION & HOURS:                  45 ELM STREET, FULL TIME M-F

SALARY:                                           JG 11-$64,291 - $81,567

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

Collects, analyzes, interprets, summarizes and presents complex accounting data; Prepares narratives, schedules, charts and graphs rendered in form usable for evaluating the integrity of the accounting records; Directs other staff in the completion of accounting analysis projects which require a team effort; Prepares accounting documentation for comparison of accounting alternatives using a variety of modern analytical techniques; Reviews general and subsidiary ledgers to ensure that deviations are appropriately dealt with; Prepares financial statements in accordance with generally accepted reporting standards; Meets, participates and provides on a regular basis, information on status of accounting analysis projects, problem areas and recommendations to the Comptroller or department head and other staff;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credit hours in accounting and three (3) years’ experience in the field of accounting, at least one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

NOTE 1: Possession of a Master’s degree in Business Administration may be substituted for one (1) year of the required accounting experience, but may not be substituted for the required supervisory or administrative experience.

NOTE 2: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
