Department & Location: Erie County District Attorney, 25 or 50 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo

Title of Position:  Asst Chief of PROMIS/PCMS Bureau
Shift: 1 full-time temporary* Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Starting Annual Salary: $73,861 (for new county employees);  $73,861-$94,698 current county employees Steps 1-5 (A-F also step to step)

*Please note the position is currently pending jurisdictional classification by New York State Civil Service and will be filled on temporary basis. 


TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
• Assists Chief of PROMIS/PCMS Bureau in daily operation of Erie County DA IT infrastructure;
• Acts as liaison and manager between ADAs and numerous body camera vendors utilized by police agencies;
• Prepares and authenticates body camera or other audio and video evidence for use in investigation and trial;
• Reviews, designs and implements forms, procedures and agency interactions in regard to evaluating the present and future needs of PROMIS/PCMS;
• Plans, coordinates and monitors the installation of network cabling and telecommunications wiring;
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots data communications problems, taking appropriate correction action and documenting same;
• Assists with the writing and maintenance of procedural documents;
• Maintains inventory of all technology equipment;
• Migrates current criminal justice systems to latest versions;
• Meets with administrative, professional and technical staff to review recommendations, responsibilities and goals of PROMIS/PCMS;
• Provides day to day training on the operation and capabilities of PROMIS/PCMS and other audio and video software;
• Works with consultants and vendors to resolve equipment problems.


PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Thorough knowledge of inter-relationship and specific roles and functions of the diverse elements of the criminal justice system; Thorough knowledge of the techniques and procedures involved in the prosecution of criminal cases; Thorough knowledge of automated data processing uses and capabilities; Thorough knowledge of information systems development, design and utilization and data retrieval, analysis and display; Skill in training staff and producing training aides and guides; Ability to detect, analyze and resolve problems and information systems; Ability to assist in the planning and development of agency objectives, programs and goals; Ability to prepare accurate and concise reports; Ability to supervise a professional and clerical staff;
Sound professional judgment; Initiative and resourcefulness; Dependability; Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Possession of Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years experience in information technology and administration, at least two (2) years of which were directly related to the general management, development, and implementation of data processing information systems in the criminal justice, healthcare, municipal government, customer service or related field.; or
B) Possession of Master’s degree and three (3) years experience in information technology and administration, at least two (2) years of which were directly related to the general management, development, and implementation of data processing information systems in the criminal justice, healthcare, municipal government, customer service or related field.; or
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
