Department & Location: Erie County District Attorney, 25 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo
Posting Dates: April 10, 2024 – April 19, 2024
Title of Position Assistant Confidential Aide – District Attorney JG IV (2 positions)
Shift: 1 full time permanent; 1 full time contingent-permanent
Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Starting Annual Salary: $40,880 (for new county employees) $40,880-$48,381 for current county employees Steps 0-5; others step to step

These positions are NOT subject to competitive exam.


TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
• Receives, sorts and directs incoming mail;
• Assists in the recording of log records, motions, deliveries, registered mail, medical records, library books, etc.;
• Assists in the pick-up and delivery of confidential legal papers to the courts, police agencies, etc.;
• Assists in filing, file retrieval and long term file storage management;
• Copies, distributes and files newspaper articles related to District Attorney cases;
• Maintains and secures trial evidence in security vault;
• Assists in the scheduling of assigned vehicles, including the maintenance and storage of the vehicles;
• Uses computer terminal to enter data and extract information;
• Assists in the assignment, operation, maintenance and storage of audio-visual and related office equipment;
• May receive and carry-out deliveries and confidential assignments as directed.


PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Working knowledge of the District Attorney's office and its operation; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; courtesy; tact; ability to communicate with others; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one year of clerical experience
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a Class D driver’s license issued by the State of New York at appointment and maintenance throughout employment.
