TITLE OF POSITION:         ASSISTANT COORDINATOR-STOP DWI (Part- Time)

The work involves assisting in the planning, coordination and supervision of a multi-thrust program to reduce alcohol related traffic deaths, injuries and property damage in Erie County. This is an administrative and technical position with primary responsibility for STOP DWI public information and education. The incumbent develops and maintains a variety of statistical information and reports and maintains a computer database. The incumbent provides direct assistance to the Project Coordinator on a variety of short-term projects, as directed. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator- (STOP DWI). Supervision is exercised over lower-level clerical staff. Does related work as required.


TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: 
Assists the project coordinator with comprehensive development and implementation of the STOP DWI program, including annual budget; Supervises and coordinates the development and expansion of the public information and education component area; Develops and distributes drunk driving PSA's public awareness messages, brochures, and drunk driving information to media and the public; Writes and updates brochures describing Erie County STOP DWI Program, and implements mass distribution to public; Sponsors and coordinates training workshops for the development of High School Staying Alive DWI peer prevention programs in conjunction with ECMC Trauma Center; Assists with the coordination of sponsorship of educational updating and motivational seminars for law enforcement, prosecution, probation, and rehabilitation, youth agencies and schools, and alcohol server training programs; Supervises and makes on site visits to schools, SADD chapters and agencies funded and supported by STOP DWI Program; Provides data entry of accident and police arrest reports, generating computer analysis of status and trends for program assessment; Expands injury severity database networking with ECMC Trauma Center; Serves on DWI Advisory Subcommittee, attends monthly County Traffic meetings, and other local and State traffic and alcohol related meetings and seminars; Assists with review of contract proposals from County, municipal and community agencies; Assists in problem solving of incomplete contracts involving insurance requirements, in cooperation with the Law Department; Represents coordinator in his/her absence; Assists coordinator in short term assignments, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
A) Possession of a Bachelor's degree* and two (2) years of experience in a position involving traffic or public safety, law enforcement, criminal justice, public or community relations, social work or health education, at least one (1) year of which involved providing information and assistance to the public, or: 
B) Possession of an Associate’s degree* and four (4) years of experience in a position involving traffic or public safety, law enforcement, criminal justice, public or community relations, social work or health education, at least one (1) year of which involved providing information and assistance to the public, or: 
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
