Department: Erie County District Attorney's Office -General Counsel,
Location: 95 Franklin Street, Buffalo
Title of Position Assistant County Attorney, Job Group XV
Shift: Full-Time Permanent
Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Starting Annual Salary: $82,136 annually plus benefits including membership in the New York State retirement system (pay automatically adjusted annually)
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Provide legal guidance to all County Departments and officials.
- Review and approve contracts and other transactional matters.
- Conduct legal research to help formulate implementation of public policy.
PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
The Erie County Department of Law (a/k/a the Erie County Attorney’s Office) is seeking an attorney with at least 3 years of experience to join the general counsel team. The successful applicant will have the ability to work independently, meet deadlines and respond professionally to all manner of inquiries from various departments of County government. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent research and writing skills. Some litigation experience representing a municipal client is preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an approved school of law with a J.D. Degree and 3 years of experience in relevant area of practice.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Admission to the Bar in the State of New York.
