DEPARTMENT: ERIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

TITLE OF POSITION: COMMUNITY REINTEGRATION COORDINATOR (PROVISONAL)

LOCATION: Erie County Holding Center & Erie County Correctional Facility

WORK SCHEDULE: MONDAY-FRIDAY; 7:00AM-3:00PM

**Please note that this position is a competitive civil service title and will require a civil service examination in the future. After the exam, selection for permanent appointment will be made from reachable candidate(s) on the eligible list according to the NYS Civil Service Rule of Three.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A) Possession of a Master’s Degree in relevant Human Services program and two (2) years of experience working with at risk populations within or adjacent to the criminal justice system in a public or private agency adhering to acceptable standards; or;

B) Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Human Services program and four (4) years of experience working with at risk populations within or adjacent to the criminal justice system in a public or private agency adhering to acceptable standards; or;

C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

All potential employees for this position will be required to sign the necessary clearance form prior to being advised that they will be hired. Refusal to sign will be cause for an automatic non-selection. Subject to background investigation and fingerprinting for appointment. (Applicant may be required to submit the necessary fees for the fingerprint processing) As required by law or statute, subject to medical examination including tuberculin (TB) test, at time of appointment and throughout period of employment.

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Perform program intake screenings and assessments for potential program enrollees.
  • Help CROs and program providers facilitate a successful reentry into the community by assisting with employment/job training, housing, clothing, means of transportation, and any other needed resource to facilitate a positive outcome.
  • Assist in the provision and coordination of in-custody programming for enrolled program participants.
  • Assists in the review of cases periodically to determine changes affecting client circumstances and needs for service.
  • Documents interactions with enrolled participants, collateral information on cases and performs written work as directed.
  • Recording/maintaining statistical records of enrolled program participants.
  • Explore systems that are available for assessments, tracking, record keeping, and generating reports.
  • Provides case program related information in relevant meetings and conferences.
  • Serve as a liaison to civilian program providers and assist them in their efforts as needed.
