FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: The work involves the management and supervision of an electronic data-processing Payroll System. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing payroll and accounting procedures related to the SAP payroll system and implementing improved procedures. Work is performed under the general direction of the Commissioner of Personnel. Supervision is exercised over a subordinate staff of technical and clerical employees in the payroll and roster division of the Personnel Department. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Oversees the production of the County payroll and supervises payroll and roster division employees in the matters related to the SAP payroll system;
- Supervises the implementation and day-to-day operations of the County payroll system;
- Implements enhancements to the SAP payroll system required to meet management needs;
- Reviews and evaluates personnel and payroll record-keeping procedures and ensures that all related problems are resolved utilizing the maximum capabilities of the SAP payroll system;
- Coordinates training program and trains participants in the use, operation, and capabilities of the SAP payroll system;
- Defines, reviews, and evaluates requests for the production of management reports and payroll information available in the system;
- Consults with departments and provides technical expertise on the utilization of the SAP payroll system;
- Supervises and coordinates payroll audit and control procedures performed by payroll division employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be serving and have served continuously on a permanent or contingent permanent basis for 24 months as a Payroll Supervisor.
