ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN – WASTEWATER FACILITIES

SALARY: $55,636-$70,637

The Erie County Division of Sewerage Management (DSM) in the Department of Environment & Planning is seeking an Electronics Technician that will be involved in the design, development, operation and maintenance of scientific, electronic, and other electrical equipment used at wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.  Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of electric and electronic equipment used in sewer collection, transmission, and treatment systems.  

 

Typical Work Activities:

Supervising, maintaining, and repairing machines such as generators, motors, voltmeters, oscillators, digital computer trainers, logic simulator demonstrators, FSK Tone Equipment, radio transmission equipment, variable and constant speed pumps drive controllers, flow meters, recorders, process controllers, industrial controls, and computers. Will also supervise, design, fabricate, and assemble various types of tools for use in electrical technology testing, as well as test new equipment for accuracy in operation and diagnose problems in electronic and electrical circuits.

 

Required Skills and Abilities: 

Thorough knowledge of the tools, terminology, procedures and equipment of electricity and electronics; ability to diagnose problems, make repairs, and design and fabricate various types of electrical and electronic equipment; able to read and interpret electrical diagrams and drawings.

Minimum Qualifications:

A) graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two (2) year college/university with an Associates’ degree in electronic and four years of satisfactory experience in the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of electronic equipment; or

B) graduation from or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six years of satisfactory experience in the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of electronic equipment; or

C) a combination of training and experience equivalent to the limits set by (A) and (B).
