DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF TILE CLASS: The work involves the planning, provision and evaluation of training programs for Erie County staff in the use of an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP). This is a technical position responsible for developing and conducting training programs covering all the skills necessary to operate an ERP system in performance of daily business activities. The incumbent instructs County staff in the use and capabilities of ERP system functions as an additional resource person relating to operation and integration of desktop application software with the enterprise (ERP) system. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-ranking technical and administrative staff. Does related work as required

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Develops and implements ongoing needs assessment of both individuals and the organization to identify types and contents of training; Plans, develops and conducts training programs and other instruction materials for users of the County ERP system, including report writer, personal computers and desktop applications, ie., word processing, spreadsheets; Evaluates training programs for effectiveness and recommends changes; Assists technical support staff in the development of reports and system interfaces to import and export data to the ERP system; Provides technical consulting services to ERP system users and administrative staff; Maintains current technical proficiency in current and new releases of ERP software and associated data management tools; Maintains records of training classes and participants; Assists with the configuration of reengineered business processes associated ERP system implementation; Assists with testing, quality assurance implementation of new releases of ERP software; Implements, tests and evaluates/maintains quality of new releases of ERP software.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of current Enterprise wide integrated application systems, policies for operation and support and procedures for operation; Thorough knowledge of principals of adult learning; Good knowledge of the user rules of various county departments; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Ability to work well with others; Resourcefulness; Dependability; Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of electronic data processing experience involving the development, coordination and delivery of instruction for computer application systems; or:
  2. B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of data processing experience involving the development, coordination and delivery of instruction for computer application systems, at least two (2) years of which included on-going tasks in planning, coordinating, and conducting training programs for users of computer application systems; or:
  3. C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B). 

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
