                                                      Full Time – AFSCME

POSITIONS:                                  51009126 (TEMPORARY)

SALARY :    $52,905 - $65,441 (AFSCME JOB GROUP JG-11)

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Comprehensive knowledge of tools, terminology and procedures involved in the construction, repair and maintenance of parks and related structures; comprehensive knowledge of the operation and maintenance of automotive and construction equipment; good knowledge of the building trade, including the ability to interpret plans, blueprints and specifications; ability to plan, assign and supervise the construction and repair of park equipment; ability to maintain personnel and activity control records and to prepare reports; ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions; dependability; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and eight (8) years of experience in parks and/or highway maintenance and or/construction work, at least four (4) years of which must have been worked in a parks system and at least six (6) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Possession of a valid NYS Class B Commerical Driver’s License without airbrake restriction at time of appointment; and
2. Must be an apprentice pesticide applicator at time of appointment and maintain the status through subsequent period of employment; and
3. Must possess accredited chainsaw certification levels 1 and 2 at time of appointment and maintain certification throughout subsequent period of employment.
4. Must be able to lift and carry unassisted packages, bags, etc. weighing up to 50 lbs.

Note: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full time experience requirements.
