Title of Position:                Health and Wellness Coordinator – Senior Services 

Shift:                                      Monday- Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm

Starting Annual Salary:  50,839/ 24.442 (JG 8)

What are the typical work activities?

  • Organizes and works with community groups and directs educational efforts to influence public attitudes and behavior regarding given health needs
  • Participates in studies and surveys of public health education needs in the community and evaluates the materials and methods used to determine the effectiveness of the program
  • Researches and assists in the development and implementation of evidence-based health promotion programs for older adults
  • Assists in planning and directing workshops, institutes forums and chairs committees to promote wellness and health education
  • Assists in researching, writing, and implementing and managing grants for funding support of educational activities
  • Writes, edits, and proofreads health education materials such as fact sheets, pamphlets, and brochures
  • Assists in community outreach

Minimum qualifications:

A) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree with a major in health education, or; 

B) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in a health related or behavioral science* field, plus two (2) years experience in health education, or;

 C) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in health education. 

NOTE: *Examples of acceptable degrees include Nursing, Speech Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, Nutrition/ Dietetics, and other closely related fields.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidates and appointees must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License and have automotive transportation available for use.

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
