**PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT – AWAITING EXAM**
TITLE OF POSITION: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
LOCATION: 95 FRANKLIN STREET, BUFFALO, NY 14202
SALARY (2025): $52,364– $65,547
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The work involves assisting with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data and projects. The incumbent updates geographic databases and data; assists the GIS operations staff with GIS applications; collects, organizes and maintains field data for use in GIS systems; and uses and understands ESRI ArcGIS software. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Geographic Information Services. Performs additional tasks as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Urban or Regional Planning, Computer Science or a related field; or
B) Completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two- or four-year college or university with at least 15 credit hours in Geographic Information Systems, and two (2) years of experience implementing and administering Geographic Information Systems software; or:
C) Four (4) years of experience implementing and administering Geographic Information Systems software; or:
D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time
experience requirements.
