The Erie County Department of Public Works Buildings and Grounds Division is seeking an individual for a position which involves performing minor supervision and participating in the general maintenance and repair of County buildings or county sewer systems and appurtenances. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher- ranking employee who makes work assignments and receives reports for conformance with standards. Supervision may be exercised over a small number of maintenance employees. Does related work as required.
- Supervises and participates in the general work of maintaining and repairing County buildings, equipment, grounds or a sanitary sewer and its appurtenances;
- Participates in general repair work by laying out and scheduling work such as painting, replacement of non-working equipment, repair of furnishings, servicing plumbing and heating equipment, waxing floors, servicing lavatories and moving equipment, supplies or furnishings;
- Instructs workers, issues supplies and inspects work;
- Performs maintenance duties in a sewer district such as hand digging, laying and repairing of sewers, equipment and sludge beds, etc.;
- Complies with various Occupational Safety & Health Administration laws and regulations, including reading and understanding Material Safety Data Sheets relating to hazardous materials and other substances;
- Assists in the operation of hydraulic flusher and/or rodding machine, T.V. and grouting equipment and drives vehicles require to perform sewer district maintenance work;
- Performs work related to operation of closed circuit telespection and internal grouting systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of elementary school and one of the following, either:
A) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of building or sewer maintenance or repair, mechanical, general maintenance, or related experience, or:
B) Six (6) years of building or sewer maintenance or repair, mechanical, general maintenance, or related experience; or:
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Ability to read, write and understand the English language
