TITLE OF POSITION: NETWORK & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR***
LOCATION & HOURS: 95 FRANKLIN ST. BUFFALO, NY 14202 (8-4PM)
SALARY: $71,710 – $91,940 (Group 13)

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The work involves responsibility for coordinating the design, installation, and operation of the data communications network of the Board of Elections. Duties include designing and formulating new systems and evaluating new technology. This is a technical data processing position. Work is performed under the general supervision of higher-level staff with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment, and general or direct supervision may be exercised over a small number of lower level technical and clerical staff. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Coordinates the operations of the monitoring system activities for data communication problems; Diagnoses and troubleshoots data communication problems taking appropriate action; Defines requirements for installing, improving or replacing data processing systems for the Board of Elections; Recommends and coordinates the installation of computer hardware used in the system, troubleshooting and repairing hardware, as necessary; Designs, develops, implements and maintains networks. Including full Network administration; Designs, develops, implements, and maintains databases of the Elections system; Maintains System data and library.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Good knowledge of current electronic processing systems, principles and methods of application; Good knowledge of systems programming analysis as it applies to electronic data processing in an Enhanced 911 Center; Good knowledge of electronic processing hardware and software, including hardware troubleshooting and repair; Good knowledge of current data communications technology, including wireless communications, capabilities and connectivity strategies of data communication networks; Ability to communicate ideas clearly both orally and in writing; High degree of logical reasoning; Sound judgment; Tact; Dependability; Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Data Processing, Computer Science, or a related field, and four (4) years of data processing experience in programming and systems development or in design, installation and/or maintenance and repair of electronic data communications equipment or network systems; or:
B) Completion of a minimum of 60 credit hours from a registered college or university with a major in Data Processing, Computer Science, or a related field and six (6) years of data processing experience in programming and systems development or in design, installation and/or maintenance and repair of electronic data communications equipment or network systems; or:
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements
