Nutrition Coordinator (HELP Program)
Distinguishing Features of the Class:
The work involves responsibility for monitoring and evaluating the qualitative standards of meal preparation for the congregate component of the Nutrition Program for the Elderly. The work is carried out in accordance with established program regulations and procedures and meets the qualitative standards set for the program and when necessary, taking appropriate corrective action. This class differs from that of Chief Dietitian in that the Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for assuring compliance with administrative and operational standards, while the Chief Dietitian is responsible for nutritional standards. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Project Director. Direct supervision is exercised over the performance of internal auditors and other designated program volunteers. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess one of the following:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university from which a bachelor’s degree was granted with a major in food service management, nutrition or dietetics or closely related field and at least two (2) years of administrative or managerial experience in a large food service operation; or:
B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college or university with an associate’s degree in food service management, nutrition or dietetics or closely related field and at least four (4) years of administrative or managerial experience in a large food service operation; or:
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
Special Requirement:
Eligibility for New York State Driver's License at the time of application. Possession of the license at time of appointment.
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full time experience requirements.
