TITLE OF POSITIONS:                  PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER II

                                                      Full Time – AFSCME

POSITIONS:                                  51001384 (PERMENANT AFTER PROBATION)

ANNUAL SALARY:  $42,001 -- $49,454 (JOB GROUP 5)

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Good knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance procedures and equipment; ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks; skilled in the operation of heavy and light motorized equipment; ability to exhibit leadership and management skills though Parks Projects; semi-skilled in one or more of the building trades; ability to get along well with others; ability to follow both oral and written instructions; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in grounds, buildings or park maintenance; or,

B.) Four (4) years of experience in grounds, buildings or park maintenance; or,

C.) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Possession of a valid NYS Class D (minimum) Driver’s License at time of appointment; and,
  2. Must obtain a valid NYS Class B (minimum) Commercial Driver’s License* without airbrake restriction within six (6) months from the time of appointment and through subsequent period of employment; and
  3. Must be able to lift and carry, unassisted, packages, bags, etc. weighing up to 50 lbs.

 

* Special Note.  As of February 7, 2022, Erie County Parks is no longer able to provide in-house training to CDL candidates due to a change in federal regulations established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.  Until further notice, all CDL candidates must obtain training from an outside training provider listed on the Training Provider Registry at their own expense.
