TITLE OF POSITIONS:                  PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER II

                                                      Full Time – AFSCME

POSITIONS:                                  51001385 (PERM AFTER PROBATION)

SALARY SCALE:   - $43,052-- $50,690. (AFSCME Job Group 5)

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Good knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance procedures and equipment; ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks; skilled in the operation of heavy and light motorized equipment; ability to exhibit leadership and management skills though Parks Projects; semi-skilled in one or more of the building trades; ability to get along well with others; ability to follow both oral and written instructions; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in grounds, buildings or park maintenance; or,

B. Four (4) years of experience in grounds, buildings or park maintenance; or,

C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Possession of a valid NYS Class D (minimum) Driver’s License at time of appointment; and,
  2. Must obtain accredited chainsaw certification Level 1 within six (6) months of appointment and maintain certification throughout subsequent period of employment; and
  3. Must become an apprentice pesticide applicator within six (6) months of appointment and maintain this status through subsequent period of employment; and
  4. Must be able to lift and carry, unassisted, packages, bags, etc. weighing up to 50 lbs.
