POSITIONS:                                  51016840 (TEMPORARY)

SALARY:  $45,987 -- $55,334 Annually (AFSCME Job Group 7)

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Good knowledge of the workings of the natural environment; Good knowledge of the principles and practices of parks and recreation management; Working knowledge of Erie County Park laws and regulations; Working knowledge of New York State Criminal Procedure Law; Ability to promote, plan and conduct a wide variety of interpretive park programs; Ability to work with people of all ages; Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Ability to work and perform tasks as required in a natural environment; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; Initiative; resourcefulness; responsibility; Sound professional judgement; Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of sixty (60) credit hours from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a major concentration in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Resource Management, Environmental Science or closely related field and one (1) year of experience working in the field of conservation, environmental science, parks or recreation, forestry or related field.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Possession of a valid NYS Class D (minimum) Driver’s License at time of appointment and throughout period of employment.
  2. If assigned duties under the jurisdiction of Erie County Homeland Security as a Peace Officer under NYS CPL 2.1 § 19 or §26, incumbents must successfully complete and maintain all requirements as defined under NYS CPL 2.3 throughout duration of assignment.

 

Note: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience
