Project Manager - Highways – Position # 51019276 *Provisional

Starting Annual Salary: $ 81,513 (CSEA Job Grade 14)

The Erie County Department of Public Works Highways Division is seeking an individual for a position managing construction and large scale projects within the Erie County Department of Public Works-Highways Division. The incumbent manages such projects for compliance with standards, specifications, budget, time and scope. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering. Supervision is exercised over a number of lower-level staff such as technical and construction personnel. Does related work as required.
- Manages a number of Bridge and Road construction projects and assists licensed engineers in the management of large-scale projects
- Evaluates project objectives within the parameters of quality, budget, time and scope; evaluates the work performance of applicable staff and contractors
- Monitors project activities for the occurrence of risks and takes timely action to mitigate the risks
- Meets with various stakeholders on project status and related matters
- Prepares project reports and project meeting minutes; schedules and conducts project status meetings
- Works with contractors on payment application processing and matters related to work invoices and payments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree* in Construction Management, Engineering or closely related field and five (5) years of experience in large scale road or bridge construction project management, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

NOTE 2: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid NY State driver's license at the time of appointment and maintenance for the duration of appointment; and;
Completion of an OSHA 10-Hour construction training course within six (6) months of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment.
