PROTECTIVE SERVICES INVESTIGATOR – PART TIME

DEPARTMENT:                  SOCIAL SERVICES

TITLE OF POSITION:       PROTECTIVE SERVICES INVESTIGATOR – PART TIME

LOCATION:                         Child Protective Services CPS - (1 VACANCY)

SALARY :                             Starting $32.82 per hour (CSEA JOB GROUP: 12)        

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and in addition either: 

A. Completion of a minimum of sixty (60) semester credit hours from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university at time of appointment and four (4) years of law enforcement experience which included investigating domestic violence, child/adult abuse/neglect and sexual assault cases; 

B. Six (6) years of law enforcement experience which included investigating domestic violence, child/adult abuse/neglect and sexual assault cases; or: 

C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Eligibility for a New York State driver’s license at the time of application. Possession of the license and use of a private automobile required at time of appointment and throughout period of employment. 

Section 424-a of the Social Services Law requires the local social services district to inquire whether the applicant is the subject of an indicated child abuse or maltreatment report on file with the State Central register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment. All potential employees for this position will be requested to sign the necessary clearance form prior to being advised that they will be hired. Refusal to sign will be cause for an automatic non-selection. 

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements
