SHIFT: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
TITLE OF POSITION: PUBLIC HEALTH LEGAL LIAISON (PROVISIONAL*)
JOB GROUP & SALARY SCALE: 08 - $50,839 - $63,638
*Please note that this position is a competitive civil service title and will require a civil service examination in the future. After the exam, selection for permanent appointment(s) will be made from reachable candidate(s) on the eligible list according to the NYS Civil Service Rule of Three.
The Senior Paralegal - Public Health performs advanced paralegal duties related to enforcing and supporting legal and regulatory actions aimed at improving and protecting public and public health. This position involves working under the supervision of attorneys and public health administrators, coordinating legal activities related to public health regulations, including compliance with local and State Sanitary Codes. The incumbent conducts legal research, prepares necessary legal documents, and exercises independent judgment in managing complex technical legal matters. Supervision may be exercised over paralegals and clerical staff. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree* and three (3) years of experience as a paralegal; or
B. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree* and completion of two (2) years of law school; or
C. Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree*; or
D. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C).
NOTE 1: *Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. NOTE 2: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience
