LOCATION:                                  RATH BUILDING

SHIFT:                                           8:00AM-4:00PM

TITLE OF POSITIONS:                  SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

                                                      Full Time – CSEA

POSITIONS:                                  51013185 (TEMPORARY)

SALARY: $64,347 -- $82,272 (JOB GROUP   JG-12)

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Thorough knowledge of currently accepted principles and practices of environmental management; good knowledge of pertinent codes, regulations and laws relating to air, water, solid and hazardous waste; good knowledge of alternative environmental and hazardous waste management and control technologies; ability to set up and conduct in-service training programs; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to develop and maintain good public relations; ability to prepare detailed and comprehensive reports; sound professional judgment; industry; reliability; initiative; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or one of the natural sciences*, supplemented by four (4) years of environmental management experience; or:

B) Completion of a minimum of sixty (60) semester credit hours of study at a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) or four (4) year college or university including a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in natural science* and six (6) years of environmental management experience; or:

C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

NOTE 1: *NATURAL SCIENCE means the branches of science collectively which deal directly with natural objects, organic or inorganic, and the substance composing them and the phenomena exhibited by them. These may include biology in all its branches, mineralogy, geology, chemistry, physics, geography and other sciences, but not abstract mathematics, philosophy or metaphysics.

NOTE 2: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements

NOTE 3: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Engineering or one of the natural sciences*, may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

 

*The person hired for this position will have to take a civil service examination at a future date and attain a score that is reachable under NYS Civil Service Law*
