LOCATION:                                  CHESTNUT RIDGE PARK (WITH SEASONAL ASSIGNMENTS)

POSITIONS:                                  51017938 (TEMPORARY)

JOB GROUP & SALARY SCALE:  JG-9 - $47,605 -- $58,128

*This position will be a temporary appointment and is subject to civil service examination at a future date.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Thorough knowledge of the workings of the natural environment; thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of parks and recreation management; working knowledge of New York State Criminal Procedure Law; working knowledge of the Erie County Park laws and regulations; ability to promote, plan and conduct a wide variety of interpretive park programs; ability to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to work with people of all ages; ability to express self clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; initiative; resourcefulness; responsibility; sound professional judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Resource Management, Environmental Science or closely related field and three (3) years of experience working in the field of conservation, environmental science, parks or recreation, forestry or related field.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Possession of a valid NYS Class D (minimum) Driver’s License at time of appointment; and,
  2. If assigned duties under the jurisdiction of Erie County Homeland Security as a Peace Officer under NYS CPL 2.1 § 19 or §26, incumbents must successfully complete and maintain all requirements as defined under NYS CPL 2.3 throughout duration of assignment.

Note: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience
