Senior Stores Clerk – Position #’s 51018292 *Provisional

Starting Annual Salary: $ 42,742 (CSEA Job Grade 5)
*Civil Service Competitive position, exam date to be determined. Selection for permanent appointment(s) will be made from reachable candidate(s) on the eligible list according to the NYS Civil Service Rule of Three.*
The Erie County Department of Public Works Utilities Division is seeking individuals for work involving responsibility for performing both manual and clerical duties in ordering, receiving, storing and issuing supplies and commodities for a department or institution. The incumbent may supervise and participate in all activities for a medium size storeroom, or act as an assistant to a Principal Stores Clerk in a large storeroom or unit. General supervision is received from an employee of higher rank. Supervision may be exercised over a small number of Laborers or Stores Clerks. Does related work as required.
- Prepares requisitions for material to be purchased, and restocking;
- Maintains records on stock control;
- Supervises and participates in the unloading, checking, storing and issuing of supplies;
- Participates in periodic inventory of supplies and preparation of reports;
- Assists with other supervisory duties;
- Operates an alphanumeric keyboard to transcribe data directly to a computer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A.) Completion of 60 semester credit hours from a regionally accredited NYS college or university; or:
B.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and (3) years of experience in office or warehouse work which includes the handling and storage of supplies or merchandise; or:
C. An equivalent combination as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements
