SALARY: $44,724 - $56,208

The Erie County Division of Sewerage Management (DSM) in the Department of Environment & Planning is seeking a Sewerage Facilities Mechanic that will perform routine and preventative maintenance and repair of all types of sewerage facilities equipment including a variety of industrial equipment found in a sewerage facility including gasoline and diesel equipment including pumps, generators, flushers and televising units. Incumbent will make major and minor repairs on all sewerage equipment and process piping. Welding skills preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities: Good knowledge of the tools, techniques and terminology associated with the repair of gasoline and diesel equipment; good knowledge of the operating and repair characteristics related to the efficient operation of a sewerage facility; ability to diagnose mechanical difficulties and instruct helpers in simple repair or maintenance work. Good knowledge of accident and safety precautions.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four years of experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial machinery which included both gasoline or diesel motors, small and large motor pumps, blowers, process piping, generators and other industrial equipment common to a sewerage facility.
