SOCIAL SERVICES CLINICAL SPECIALIST

TITLE OF POSITION:    SOCIAL SERVICES CLINICAL SPECIALIST

LOCATION:    APPLETREE BUSINESS PARK

JOB GROUP:                  11 (Starting Annual Salary: $62,419)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a Master’s degree in Social Work and three (3) years of experience* providing social casework services to children and families in a public or private agency adhering to acceptable standards in social work.

NOTE 1.  *Acceptable experience should include the following: 

•      Responsibility for making diagnostic assessments of individual and family situations; 
•      Determining or participating in the determination of case pathology or risk; 
•      Formulating treatment plans; and 
•      Implementing treatment services such as individual counseling, group therapy, or child play therapy. 

Such experience must have been acquired in practice settings such as psychiatric clinics serving children and families, child guidance clinics, or social agencies operated under the mandates of the New York State Department of Social Services, or certified by the Child Welfare League of America or Family Service Society, Inc.

NOTE 2. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

1. Eligibility for a license with a Masters in Social Work (LMSW) at time of appointment and possession of a LSMW within six (6) months of appointment and maintenance throughout employment

2. Eligibility for a New York State Driver's License at the time of application. Possession of the license and use of a private automobile required at time of appointment and throughout period of employment. 

3. Section 424-a of the Social Services Law requires the local social services district to inquire of whether the applicant is the subject of an indicated report of child abuse or maltreatment on file with the State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment. 

4. All potential employees for this position will be requested to sign the necessary clearance form prior to being advised that they will be hired. Refusal to sign will be cause for an automatic non-selection.
