Supervising Data Processing Control Clerk – Position # 51017983 *Permanent

Rath Building, 95 Franklin Street Mon-Fri Days

Starting Annual Salary: $ 55,636 (CSEA Job Grade 10)

The Erie County Department of Public Works Highways Division is seeking an individual for work that involves supervising the operation of a data control clerical staff for the production of a variety of reports, listings, and records. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-ranking employee, with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment. Supervision is exercised over a large subordinate staff of Data Processing Control Clerks for assignments and inspection of work. Does related work as required.

  • Supervises the clerical data control staff involved in the preparation of payrolls, tax rolls, checks, accounting and bookkeeping records, and statistical reports;
  • Confers with superiors regarding allocation of funds amongst government entities;
  • Supervises employees engaged in data control reports;
  • Supervises the work of division by making assignments, shifting of workers to meet time schedules and reviewing work results for conformance to procedures;
  • Schedules and coordinates various work activities for fullest utilization of personnel;
  • Determines priority of work and adjusts schedules to meet work requirements;
  • Attends to the inventory and ordering of supplies;
  • Confers regularly with superiors on work activities;
  • Makes recommendations on equipment needs and personnel requirements;
  • Maintains records and prepares reports covering production and related activities for department annual report.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:

  1. Completion of two years of study at a regionally accredited or New York State registered two or four year college or university and three (3) years of office or clerical experience, at least one (1) year of which must have been in a computer-oriented supervisory position; OR:
  2. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of office or clerical experience, at least one (1) year of which must have been in a computer-oriented supervisory position; OR:
  3. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements
