PROVISIONAL VACANCY NOTICE

TITLE OF POSITION:                      TRAINING SPECIALIST-CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS

LOCATION:                                      45 ELM STREET

ANNUAL SALARY:                                           $50,839 - $63,638 (  JG 08 )

The work involves documenting, creating and providing training courses and materials as related to maintenance of, and inquiry into local, State and Federal criminal justice databases; training criminal justice personnel in the operation of computers and data communications equipment relating to mobile data activity, automatic vehicle locater (AVL) use, laptop/notepad pc’s for related applications; troubleshooting of law enforcement/criminal justice applications; troubleshooting law enforcement/criminal justice transfer packages and user network interfacing linkage; troubleshooting mobile data and AVL communications. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher-level professional administrative and/or technical staff. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Data Processing or Computer Science and two (2) years of experience in criminal justice computer operations; or:

B) Completion of two (2) years at a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with fifteen (15) hours in Data Processing or Computer Science and four (4) years of experience in criminal justice computer operations; or: 

C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years experience in criminal justice computer operations; or: 

D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C). 

NOTE: 1. Current DCJS certification may be substituted for one (1) year experience.

2. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full time experience requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must achieve DCJS-CPS certification and Bureau of Municipal Police Training Certification 

within one (1) year of employment.
