AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
This is a CPR course that is required for Healthcare providers created from the American Heart Association 2020 standards. This is a one day course that is around 2.5 to 4 hours. Students completing this course will receive an AHA BLS Provider certification. The cost of this course is $25.00.
AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider
This course is intended for advanced healthcare providers, such as paramedics, nurses, or physicians. Students will learn about the recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute arrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. This course is a one or two day course, between 8 to 16 hours, depending on if you are taking an original or recertification course. Students completing this course will receive an AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider certification. The cost of this course is $75.00.
AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider
This course is intended for advanced healthcare providers, such as paramedics, nurses, or physicians. Students will learn to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills. This course is a one or two day course, between 8 to 16 hours, depending on if you are taking an original or recertification course. Students completing this course will receive AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider certification. The cost of this course is $75.00.
NAEMT Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Provider
This course is designed for all pre-hospital care providers. Students will learn how to manage a variety of traumatic injuries, such as burns, head injuries, chest trauma, etc., through interactive lectures and hands on skills practice. This course is a one or two day course, between 8 to 16 hours, depending on if you are taking an original or recertification course. Students completing this course will receive NREMT Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Provider certification. The cost of this course is $75.00.
NAEMT Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) Provider
This course is designed for all pre-hospital care providers. Students will learn how to interact with and manage pediatric patients experiencing a variety of medical emergencies, such as shock, traumatic injuries, respiratory diseases, toxicological emergencies, etc., through interactive lectures and hands on skills practice. This course is a one or two day course, between 8 to 16 hours, depending on if you are taking an original or recertification course. Students completing this course will receive NREMT Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) Provider certification. The cost of this course is $75.00.

Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS)
This course prepares prehospital practitioners to respond to, assess, and care for this fast-growing patient population. This third edition of the course strengthens and enhances practitioners’ ability to provide the best care for older adults in every community. The GEMS course helps EMS practitioners learn to conduct a comprehensive assessment of geriatric patients. Because the aging process affects all body systems, NAEMT’s course provides an overview of changes that occur as people age and describes how those changes can impact patient presentation. Incorporation of the GEMS Diamond (Geriatric, Environmental, Medical, and Social assessments) can help practitioners formulate a holistic diagnostic and treatment approach. The cost of this course is $75.00.
All Hazards Disaster Response (AHDR)
The All Hazards Disaster Response (AHDR) course employs a systems-based approach to disaster preparedness and response, with a focus on caring for ill and injured patients during a mass-casualty incident or disaster. The course teaches students how to respond to the many types of disaster scenarios they may encounter, including natural disasters, infrastructure failings, fires and radiological events, pandemics, active shooter incidents, and other mass casualty events. AHDR educates participants on the critical actions required to support patient and practitioner safety during disaster response.
Heartsaver CPR, Hands-Only CPR, Stop the Bleed Training, & Other Topics
Our Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness offers a variety of training to the public, businesses, organizations, or groups. This training is geared towards non-healthcare providers and covers topics such as CPR and Stop the Bleed training. Tuition Payment
Tuition for the course is due no later than first class session. Any student who does not submit their tuition payment will not be eligible to attend the course. Accepted forms of payment include checks and money orders. Checks and money orders should be made out to the “Erie County DOH EMS” and mailed or hand delivered to the EMS office.
