The Food Policy Council of Buffalo and Erie County (FPC) was created in May 2013 as a sub-commission of the Erie County Board of Health. The Council’s mission is to build and strengthen a sustainable and just regional food system through policy recommendations, awareness and education. The FPC also serves as an advisory body to provide local governments, businesses and residents information and advice about policies and programs that support a local community-based food system. In 2020, the FPC released the Local Food Action Plan and has been actively working on implementation. The Council is comprised of both appointed and stakeholder seats. The Council maintains both standing committees and working groups to address food system issues. For more information about the Council structure, visit https://www3.erie.gov/fpc/council-structure.
