Who is responsible for plowing my road?

This depends on what road you live on. Not all roads in Erie County are plowed by Erie County DPW.

  • ECDPW owns & maintains 1,200 centerline miles of roads.
  • The entire county has over 4,625 miles of roads. Most are owned & maintained by the cities, towns, villages or NYS.
  • ECDPW does not maintain any roads in the City of Buffalo.
  • ECDPW contracts with towns and villages to plow many county roads.
  • Check the Snow Plow Road List to see who is responsible for plowing a specific county-owned road
