Compliance Report on Direct Settlement Funds for Erie County

In alignment with MHL 25.18 and our commitment to public transparency, this report outlines the fiscal details regarding the Direct Settlement funds utilized by Erie County during the fiscal year 2024.

Fiscal Overview

In fiscal year 2024, Erie County spent a total of $1,317,550.53 from the $5,977,635.20 that was encumbered. Notably, 100% of the funds were utilized for approved opioid abatement purposes.

Community Partnerships

Erie County established seventeen contracts with community partners to offer a diverse range of services. These services include:

  • A public communications campaign
  • Treatment and recovery programs
  • Youth prevention initiatives
  • Reentry services, including housing for individuals involved with the justice system
  • Expansion of drop-in center services and more

Harm Reduction Efforts

Twenty percent of the funds expended were incurred by the Erie County Department of Health specifically for harm reduction initiatives. This includes essential supplies such as Narcan, distribution of Narcan, and drug testing materials. Standard practice for supplies is that they are distributed by the Health Department to community members and community organizations.
