Treatment Sector

Purpose of the Treatment Sector

The primary purpose of the treatment sector is to ensure rapid deployment of specially trained medical and non-medical volunteers in support of local resources during emergency response. Furthermore, the treatment sector will support or provide community services in relation to public health education and preparedness.

Goal of the Treatment Sector

To provide rapid response of trained professionals to support medical triage and treatment. Response efforts may include: 

  • Providing medical assistance within emergency shelters for people with medical needs
  • Providing medical care during Points of Dispensing (POD) operations
  • Providing medical assistance at disaster or critical incident response
  • Providing medical assistance at events, as requested
  • Providing non-medical assistance such as greeting, flow control, and general help at any ECMRC training, drill, or deployment
  • Providing support for public health preparedness and education initiatives
