Lead Poisoning Prevention Programs
The Lead Poisoning Primary Prevention Program provides help to families with children under age 6 years old to reduce exposure of lead and prevent lead poisoning. It functions as a parent program to the NY State Lead Rental Registry, the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, and the Lead It Go Program.
NY State Lead Rental Registry Program
If you own a residential dwelling with 2 or more units in a Community of Concern built before 1980, you will need to register your property with the state.
The New York State Lead Rental Registry is a statewide program to identify and remediate lead hazards in pre- 1980 rental units located in "communities of concern" in New York State. This program aims to reduce childhood lead poisoning by requiring landlords to register their properties, conduct lead hazard inspections, and ensure prompt remediation of any identified hazards.
Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program
The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is responsible for case management of lead poisoned children, conducts investigations and provides information to parents of children under age 18 years old that have tested positive for elevated blood lead levels.
Lead It Go
Lead It Go is a free, voluntary program to address the effects of lead exposure in children from birth to age 3 years old.
