Length: 1-hour or 30-minute session options
Description: Participants will learn about the effects of various substances, trends and shifts in Erie County, and how to respond to a potential overdose situation. Naloxone, resources and training are provided at no cost.
Length: 2-hour or 3-hour session options
Description: A practical, compassionate training that helps people better understand substance use and addiction. Participants learn how addiction affects the brain, how to reduce stigma, how to communicate with empathy, and how to respond to substance use in safer, more supportive ways. The training builds real-world skills for families, professionals, and community members to support prevention, early intervention, and recovery.
Length: 1-hour session
Description: A science-based harm reduction training that teaches young people and adults how to make safer choices around substance use. The program provides honest, nonjudgmental education about drugs and alcohol, how they affect the brain and body, and how to reduce risks and prevent harm. Safety First focuses on real-life decision-making, safety, and well-being, not fear, punishment, or shame.
Description: This presentation provides an overview of bloodborne pathogens, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) in Erie County/New York State, how transmission occurs, impacts on health outcomes, prevention methods, and harm reduction strategies, particularly for high-risk populations including but not limited to People Who Use Drugs.
