Weatherization Assistance Programs

If you are HEAP eligible, you may be eligible for WAP, too.  WAP provides assistance with the following:

  • Clean, tune, repair, or replace the heating and/or water heater
  • Install insulation to ducts, heating pipe, water heater tank, and pipes
  • Install insulation where needed, while performing air sealing
  • Replace windows and doors
  • Install mechanical ventilation to ensure adequate indoor air quality
  • Install smoke and carbon dioxide detectors
  • Evaluate mold and moisture hazards
  • Install efficient light sources and low flow shower heads
  • Replace inefficient refrigerators with energy efficient units

The following are agencies in Erie County who provide weatherization programs.  Neighborhood Housing Service of South Buffalo (www.nhssouthbuffalo.org) and Lt. Col. Matt Urban Human Services (www.urbanctr.org\housing-services\weatherization) provide weatherization service in the City of Buffalo.  Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) – Supportive Services Corporation (www.supportservices.org) provides weatherization services outside of the City of Buffalo.
