Parks Adventure Bus service from NFTA offers free rides to WNY parks this summer

Starting on June 18, 2022, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) will provide free rides on Saturdays to WNY parks, beginning with Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora followed by trips to and from other scenic parks in the area this summer!

The Parks Adventure Bus, coordinated by the NFTA, offers various departure times from downtown Buffalo to the parks, with no fare required as part of rides both to and from the parks. Trips begin at the Metropolitan Transportation Center (MTC) at North Division and Ellicott streets downtown, with departure times on each Saturday (June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6 and August 13) leaving the MTC at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Departure times on the Parks Adventure Bus from the parks (heading back downtown) are noon, 2:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. Those interested in attending must arrive 10 minutes prior to departure from either downtown or the park. 

Park rangers are on hand to assist those with questions. Various fun activities are available at the parks for those attending. 

The WNY park schedule as part of the Parks Adventure Bus program includes the following sites:

  • Saturday, June 18 - Knox Farm State Park, East Aurora.
  • Saturday, June 25 - Chestnut Ridge Park, Orchard Park.
  • Saturday, July 9 - Fort Niagara State Park.
  • Saturday, July 16 - Como Lake Park, Lancaster.
  • Saturday, July 23 - Beaver Island State Park, Grand Island.
  • Saturday, July 30 - Akron Falls Park.
  • Saturday, August 6 - Evangola State Park. 
  • Saturday, August 13 - Make-up day, in case any of the above-listed events is canceled due to inclement weather.

Bus service to each park is additionally available through the PAL ride service for eligible riders.
